I am looking to scope my new rifle. It is a bench rifle (6.5 - 06) and will be punching paper at various distances. I was hoping to have one of my leupolds upgraded to 50x by preimer reticles only to find they have stopped servicing scopes. I was looking at other scope options with a magnification of 40 or more and have not seen much available. I will admit I like as much high mag scopes. Nightforce 12 - 42 is most likely the best available but costly. Tasco I will not even touch, I have tried cheap optics and realize that a bad scope makes a gun useless. The only option that I am not familiar with is the Nikko Stirling 10-50x 60mm. I have not seen much written about this scope. The airgunners seem to like it for what I can tell. I was wondering if it is a decent scope? My main concern is tracking and a holding a zero. I realize for the price the optics  will not be top of the line but I expect them to be usable. I consider good usable optics to be on par with say a meuller or a burris FFII. I am not an optics snob and realize that a nice serviceable scope can bought for a good price (ie super sniper, bushnell 3200 and 4200, burris, etc) Has anybody had used a Nikko Stirling 10-50x 60? What experiance does anybody have with this scope? Any other variable power scope option in the 40-50x range that is under 1000 dollars?  Thanks for the input

Hello 12Bravo

I would recomend that if your rifle is custom and It will be used to compete

to strongly consider the Nightforce. Chris posted the number of a gentlemen

in the rifle scopes section that offers the best prices on nightforce, you should

give him a call and talk to him. Just type nightforce in upper search and you

should see it. He may also have info on the Nikko.

SVD666,

Thanks for the information. I was looking at the nightforce on (competitor)usa and the were charging about 1,180 for the benchrest model. I didn't think I was going to be able to do much better then that as far as price is concerned but I will search and see what I can find. To bad nobody does custom scope work now that preimer reticles is out of business.  I tried a friends 50x leupold, 50 pwer is nice when you are on a bench. I will search for the guy, if I can get a nightforce for under 1k that will be good.  The Nikko was about 600 -700 and I didn't know if it was a glorified 200 dollar tasco or a decent scope. Any more info let me know. Thanks
