My boss just had a custom .308 bench rifle made. He's always been a big deer hunter, but the hunting thing has lost it's luster, and he's taken a real fancy to bench / target shooting.
His rifle is a sheer beauty and a top notch shooter. It has a Conquest 6.5-20x50 on it, and he wants more power.
He shoots in fruit jar comps ranging 100 to 600, but 400 is main distance, and he says 20x isn't cuttin it for him.
He wants to crank to 30x, but don't want to drop four figures.
What options are here in a good variable?
I like to measure powder by the cup.

You can tell a lot about a man by the edge he keeps on his pocket knife.

Nightforce BR is a great suggestion for a bench scope. If you find any under four figures like OP asked for I suggest you buy it immediately. The Sightron III gets recommender here a lot with 8-32 magnification and good glass and tracking under FOUR figures.

His son traded in a 8x32 NF BR on a Swaro a while back at a local gun store. Dude knocked off $700 for his NF. Needless to say his dad was PO'd big time for not letting him know he was gonna dump it.

The guy that built his .308 is a BIG time Sightron guy. He may end up going that route.
Thanks for the feedback gents.
