At top end magnification, that is correct.

Across the magnification range, there are other options that are better.

I am wrapping up with the comparison of 5-25x56 and similar models.

If I may, what other scopes are in the comparison?

For this one I looked at Steiner 5-25x56, Kahles 6-24x56, Premier 5-25x56, March 5-40x56 and a couple of S&B 5-25x56s.

ILya - Your write up on this topic would have made my life much easier.  I have followed your advice for just about every other rife I have and have been happy.  I have 30 days until I get the scope and 30 days after that to return it.  Any chance you would be done by then?

Don't know of its too late but from my experience I found the Hensoldt glass to be brighter than the S&B. The eye box was also extremely forgiving when compared to the S&B. I was able to quickly get a perfect sight picture at full magnification while only holding the scope with my hands unmounted. Also, Zeiss' Victory FL was simply amazing in terms of brightness.

Ditto.

S&B was nice but they are far behind in my book now.

ILya,

I am seriously interested in your x56 scope comparisons. Kitting up for .338 LM to 2000 meters.

It is done and here:

http://opticsthoughts.com/?page_id=1254

Have you shot at those ranges before? Do you have access to 2000 yards?  I know it seems like a stupid question, but I talk to guys constantly who are setting up a 1000 yard gun and have access to only a 600 yard range.
Freedom is something you take.
Respect is something you earn.
Equality is something you whine about not being given.

Max range that I've shot is in the 13-1500 range. I'm training myself, putting shots down range at steel and working on refining my weapons and optics. I live out in Pahrump, NV so I go way out in the desert where the only thing I have to worry about is a rattler crawling up beside me to watch me shoot. Scares me even thinking about it. I put the steel out, stick up a red flag and start training. I figure if any of the badge carrying guys come around, I'll point at the red flag smile and try to blind them with brilliance. If that doesn't work, I'll bring out the BS.

My goal is to work out to as far as I can get repeatedly (or at least one lucky hit). I like to think I am a good student so I will always listen and learn. Ant tips you or anyone else has are very welcome. Thanks.

Thanks Rancid for the article. I did a quick skim and will print it for reference. I like what he was saying about retesting the Khales and putting the NF'Beast' in the mix. Have you ever shot the H59? I wish I could win the lotto so I could round up a bunch of the scopes and try them out. ILya is really fortunate in that regard and if he is reading - "Congrats on being a new Dad!" Boy or Girl? Doesn't matter though, I imagine either/or will be crack shots.
