I am in the market for a high end rifle scope with a 1'' tube. Price under $2000.00

This market is dominated by the Europeans scopes but the Japanese might have somthing out there. Finding what's made in 1'' has been frustrating and time consuming.
So Far I found and really like the Schmidt & Bender 2.5-10x40  @ $1500.00

http://swfa.com/Schmidt-Bender-25-10x40-Summit-Riflescope-P44707.aspx

I don't want to go above 10x unless it has a low power of 1.5 to 2x. Like to keep the obj. end under 45mm, and doesn't need to be illuminated.

This scope will replace a Leupold VX-II, 2-7x33, on a T/C Omega Z5 muzzle loader.
I need more power, and better glass. My new hunting spot has ranges out to 200+ yds.
We shot and harvested a 9pt at 174 yds last season. But the Doe's will come in close.

Yes I realize that the scope will cost 5x the price of the gun. I take my deer hunting seriously. I hunt in a shotgun, muzzle loader only zone of Michigan.

I need more power than the normal shooter, as I'm cross eye dominate, and shoot from the weak eye shoulder. I close my good eye, hence I use MORE power than the normal shooter.

The Z5 you are referring to is 3.5-18x44.  It is a very nice scope, but ultimately S&B Summit is probably the highest end 1" hunting scope out there.

For the ranges in question, I would probably want to have 2.5x or thereabouts on the low end, more than I would need 18x on the top end.

Out of the Swarovski line-up, I would more likely consider Z3 2.5-10x42 or 3-9x36.  Both are very nice scopes that are lighter than the Summit.

Just out of curiosity, why do you insist on 1" tube?

Dave;
Swarovski make one I really like, but it's a 30mm tube.  Swarovski Z6, 1.7-10x42  30mm
Excellent field of view @1.7x, and equal to the S&B Summit @ 10x. (with a $400.00 price increase)

Ilya;
The reason I want to stick with a 1'' tube is this;
There are 12 scoped firearms in the safe, 2 are 30mm. One on a EBR and one LR on a .300RUM.

Everything else is 1''.  3 are rimfires, the rest are center fires that I can swap in the S&B if the need arises, using the rings already in place
Also in the bench drawer is 3 sets of new split ring 1'' EXT F-Std R Redfield rings, and 2 sets of PWR Leupold rings.
So to go to 30mm, I would need to purchase another set of rings, which can be done if needed.

I though the big reason of a 30mm tube is increased adjustment of the elevation on 0 MOA bases. Correct me if I'm wrong about that.

The 30mm's all seem to cost alot more that 1'' their counterparts.

Ilya,

I can not find the Swaro Z3 2.5-10x42 you mentioned with SWFA, or on Swaro's web sight.

Is this the discontinued Swarovski Habicht PH 2.5-10x42 or this;

That's correct, I meant the the 3-10x42 Z3, although, personally, I like the smaller 3-9x36 a little owing to appreciable wider field of view on the low end.

As far as 1" or 30mm question goes, this is not about any inherent differences due to tube size.  It is simply a matter of what is available.  If you are looking for a high end scope, most of them are made with a 30mm tube, so going with that format gives you a lot more options.

Does anybody know how the Kahles KX or CL line of  3-9x42 scopes stack up to the S&B Summit?

There are still a few of them around, can be had at good prices,  and they are also 1'' tubes.
