I am considering purchasing a Nikon 6.5-20x44 illuminated mil dot.  My question relates to the size of the the cross hairs and the actual dots.  Can anyone clarify for me if the inner crosshairs and dots are fine and is there anywhere I can see an actual picture of the reticle rather than a diagram which is often not a true representation?

Unfortunately I cannot get to see the actual scope myself and this is a big purchase for me.  Hope you can help.

Trig

Hey Trig, thought i'd post this here copied form your PM, as it's important info for anyone that has that scope really--

Sorry Trig, been outta' touch for a few days. Got that info--here's all the subtensions Nikon publishes for that reticle. This is for the scope designated  6.5-20X44AO IR in the '06 catalog(all measurements = inch per hundred yds.)--

A) = width of thicker stadia lines

B) = width of thinner stadia lines

C) = post tip to post tip

D) = dot diameters

E) = dot to dot measurement (1 mil)

....6.5X..........12X (mil cal power).............20X

A) 3.70.................2.00.....................1.20

B) 0.47.................0.25.....................0.15

C) 66.46...............36.00...................21.60

D) 1.33.................0.72....................0.43

E) 6.65.................3.60....................2.16

IMO, that's an excellent mil-dot scope in that it can be used at the highest power more accurately as a ballistic and rangefinding reticle.

The optics catalogs are an invaluable source of reference for most optics ?'s. They're easy to order thru all the websites, and u can often get on their mailing list to get updated info.

...oh yeah and BTW-- dont' throw the old ones away.
