Gents

Iron site to scope shooter here.  Recently took long range shooting class but having trouble remembering everything when doing a dining room table exercise this weekend.

. . . am working my brain into circles like a dog chasing his tail.

On Ballistics AE App - using a Litz projectile characteristics for a Hornady .308 and 2,940 FPS velocity (from box) I get the following MOA drops:

300': -17.8
400': -39.13
500': -63.74
600': -91.92
700': -124.20

I must be confused re: scope adjustment on a Nightforce Competition scope with internal adjustment of 60 MOA.

Question 1

Scope has internal MOA of 60 and the Nightforce rail I use is 20 MOA. Is that MOA cummalative : 80 MOA?  If so, is there anything I do with this information?

Question 2

Gents, I'm missing something here. I've taken one class on long range shooting and I know we were reaching 700 meters with .308's and sub 180 gram rounds so I'm making a mistake.

If my drop sheet indicates -91.92 MOA for 600 feet but my internal scope adjustment is 60 MOA, what makes up the difference in MOA?

Dumb a#$ question, I know.

You must have it set on clicks or inches or something. As somethimg is way off

You should be using yards not feet as well. You never hear of someone talking about shooting distance in feet. Alaways yards or meters

At 600 yards you should have in the neighborhood on 12.5 moa drop

A 20 moa base does not add more travel to your scope. It just offsets it. Say with a flat base you have 30 moa up and 30 moa down. You add a 20 moa base now you have 50 up and 10 down. You still have 60 total but it just offsets the up you now have
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

crud...yep..I meant to type.."yards" not the symbol for feet.

Perfect explanation for the 20 MOA base...nothing is free in this world, is it?

I must be using the Ballistics AE App incorrectly - I'll keep at it and ask another question if I must.

Thanks for taking time to reply.
