I have a Sako 75 Stainless hunter in 300 Weatherby. It has a very long V action. What scope will fit in the standard Optilock base without going to extended bases(or do I really have to)?I would like to be able to have some leaway to adjust the scope to my eye.I was considering a Leupold VX II 4x12 40mm in silver.I would like to use a silver scope to match the barreled action. Please help!

Bushnel Elite 4200 scopes are typically a little longer than most of their competition, so you may consider one of them. Better glass that the Leupold to boot.

I second the 4200. Check out their web site for the mounting distance noted for each model. I seen mounting distances anywhere from 5.9" to 6.5". As for silver over black matt...I would just not let that steer my decision to the point where I'd give up quality. |
