Right I've nailed it down to these two, here's alittle comparison.
Meopro 3.5-10x44 RD                   or           Meostar 3-10x50, 4 reticle

  main tube                    25.4                                                            30

  reticle                           4C                                                              4

  exit pupil               11.8 - 4.4                                                       16.7 - 5

  eye relief                      90                                                               80

  FOV(m/100m)        10.3 - 3.6                                                       13.3 - 4

  weight(oz)                    17.6                                                            15.9

I'm looking for the better low light hunting scope.
If the two scopes have very similar set ups , glass and lens coatings, it would come down to the objective lens diameter. (I know the 56mm would be the best choice) but the meopro set on x6 or the meostar set on x7 have enough magnification for the distances I hunt in low light and both on these setting would let enough light through the pupil .
So would there be any benefit in me getting the 50mm or the 44mm?
Is there something that I'm missing?
Do the bigger lens for some unknown reason just perform better in low light conditions even when dialled down to get the exit pupil around 7mm?

I am leaning towards the meopro 44mm because of the illuminated reticle and maybe I can mount it lower, also there's not much difference between x6 and x7(meostar 50) when stooting out to 200m.

Anyone who has experience with these scopes or just wants to add their 2 cent worth, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Oyster.

I called Meopta when I was looking at their scopes. They told me that the glass is the same in both scopes but the coatings on the meostar were much better. If funds were no issue, I would go meostar.

either would be good. the meostar will probably have a touch better glass but the meopro will have better eye relief and illumination. i own a 56mm meostar and love it and just ordered the 3.5-10x44 RD meopro u r asking about for another gun i just bought. u cant go wrong with either but id probably be swayed to the illuminated reticle and eye relief

It seems to me that when I'm hunting in a low light condition I would always prefer an Illum.reticle.I say go with the Meopro.

still undecided,
I'd like the illuminated reticle but if there is a big difference in coatings on the lens I'd go the better glass. I would like to be able to use this scope at night too. If there's only a few minutes between them at dawn and dusk, and they performed about equal at night I'd go the meopro with ill reticle.
Looking on their webpage the meopro only has the meobright coatings where as the meostar has the meobright and the meosheild.
