First off my 338 edge kicks less than the 22-250 (no exaggeration) and it ran great with the light scope after switching to the heavy scope I ran in to issues...... I had to abandon signature rings and the base constantly coming loose so I switched to a DNZ similar to the one that had held the light scope but accommodating a 20moa cant and 30mm tube. That did not hold it so I added powdered resin which did not hold it......... epoxy bedded base to receiver and went back to signatures this time with resin and it did not hold it. OK now I am done screwing around so I got not one but two sets of leupolds and to my horror they where different heights despite being "identical parts"........... I lapped one of the rings down to match the other pair and installed the three rings with resin................................... held for a while but still slipped and right at the beginning of hunting season. OK now I have $hundreds$ in the dam mounts...........I do just so happen to have two matching sets of weaver 6-hole tactical rings, I have a lapping bar some jb weld and/or devcon steel putty......I think I actually have a reverse recoil impulse and unless some one has a better Idea I am going to have scope rings bonded to a scope real soon. Any suggestions? Thanks...........Duke

I have seen people use a small amount of electrical tape, taped to the inside of the rings and the scope sits on it. I have never Done it. the resin always has worked for me even on the nonbrraked 330rum's and other mid to big rifles.

A friend of mine had a similar problem, in his case the culprit was almost no binding surface scope/rings due to the warped action. Lapping the rings did the trick, more binding area.
I always use Liquisole as a binding agent, or if I´m out of it: surgeons tape.

Oh, please don't epoxy your scope into the rings.  What a mess.  It's just not needed.  Any number of quality rings will hold your scope easily without any glue, goo or other crap.  Of course I'm partial to my own but there are other brands that will get the job done even with the most extreme recoil.

I haven't used the Weaver and while they might very well get the job done, they're awefully cheap and wouldn't be my first choice.  It sounds like you have a pretty expensive rifle and scope but as you've found, skimping on your scope mounting hardware can render them both useless and cost you more in the end when you have to do it all over again.

Gluing/bedding the picatinny base to the action is fine and a good idea (especially if still using #6 screws) but a decent set of rings won't need anything.

Get a hold of Richard Near, near manufacturing. He certainly knows his stuff, and will be able to help. I think he will take the time to help pinpoint your problem.
