Ok guys. I finally got around to mounting my Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40 on my Browning Bar Safari .270. I mounted the scope and continually checked its level and plum. After mounting, there is a slight "fuzz" in the bottom left. I am thinking that it is picking up the front sight; so how do you remove the front sight. It looks as though it can be tapped out but to no avail it ain't budging. I used Talley Med height mounts. Any ideas??

Secondly, I'm 99.9% sure the scope is level and plum. If it IS picking up the front sight, why isn't it directly in the middle of the scope??--Bboy623

I should have updated. I got the front sight off. I had to take it to a shop that had a dovetail press. Anyways, no more fuzz.....I got the MED Talleys but I guess they weren't quite high enough.

New problem though.....what do I do about the two screw holes in the top of my barrel?? I want plug them with something so they won't start rusting from moisture. Are there any screw plugs from Browning maybe???--Bboy623

Standard plug screws like you removed from the receiver to mount the scope should work.   You may need one size larger.  Any good gun shop should have what you need.  I have the same situation with 2 of my rifles and the little bit of fuzz never bothered me so I left the sights on.

They also make screw assortment kits that you can buy from places like Mid Way that contain numerous different sizes.  I got one just to have them on hand and have used several over the course of the years, its paid for itself by having it to do the same thing you are talking about as well as help a few of my friends out.
