I just assembled an AR-15 18" SPR clone w/LaRue SPR mount and need to scope it. I'm thinking Leu 2.5-8x36 MKIV MRT/M2 or Leu MKIV 3.5-10x40 LRT/M1 and I ran across a like new Nikon 2.5-10x44 Mon X mil-dot for a righteous price. I know the Nikon is kinda large, but the optics look better than a Leu MKIV that I already own.
I was leaning toward the 2.5-8x36 MR/T for the size, but the lack of side focus and the price of the Nikon is tempting. Everthing I've read is positive for the NIKON.
Any opinions or past experience would be appreciated.
TIA

I actually have a nib 10x42 Supersniper M with Warne AR-15 Ultra high rings for sale to help fund this project but I can't post it in the for sale section cause i don't have enough posts even though I been lurking here for over two years!

Suggestion why not trade in what you have toward what you want.  Click on the Samplelist link and a trade in form is  on the first page.  If you want better glass than the Mk 4 consider an IOR.

Oh well, Tue ordered both Nikon 2.5-10 & Leu 2.5-8x36 off sample list. Guess what was on the doorstep this evening. Bradley ( I think) @ samplelist made me a GOOD deal on both scopes and a set of ARMS 22H rings. I've got 2 MKIV's and this Nikon MON X cost about 1/2 is every bit as clear if not more so. I'm gonna put the Nikon on a Rem LTR .308 and the Leu MRT on the SPR clone. Merry Christmas to me.

hey brother. been considering the same basic question as you. one of the best scopes ive found is an us optics. think...1.5-10. the eye piece is specificaly designed with fast target aquisition in mind. comes with various ret's available. you'll find it on their web site if you look. for the moment its out of my price range at about $1500. they also make a 1-8x. looking for a less expensive alt with out sacrificing quality. meanwhile saving.*L*

Yes the U.S. Optics scopes are wonderful scopes but its really hard to justify that kind of money unless it is related to your profession and can be written off on taxes.
