Got a new 24" Bushamaster Varmiter and having trouble deciding on glass for it.  I have owned a few decent scopes in my short time, but I am looking for some advice from you guys out there.  I have been reading a bit and it sound like there are some pretty knowledgable people here.

I have been thinking 6-24 x 50mm but can't decide on brand.  I have been looking at the Burris, Bushnell, Zeiss Conquest, Nikon Monarch, etc... I would like to stick around the $400-$500 range if possible.  Can anyone offer some advice on features or personal experiences, maybe a good source to buy???

Thanks

Frank

You'll have a hard time finding a better scope than the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40.  You don't need a 50mm objective.  Check out these threads.  There's a lot more good info on here, but I this is a good start.

I was going through a similar exercise about a year ago of selecting a scope for my varminter (a heavy barreled Savage in 22-250).  I ended up with a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 with Mil-Dot.

IMO, to do better than that scope you'll have to spend at least a grand.

Thanks Fellars...!  I was at Gander Mountain today and they had a brand new Bushnell Elite 3200 7-21 x 40mm on Clearance for $319.00. WHat do you guys think of that deal? Anyone think its worth it?

Thanks

I am not a big fan of Elite 3200.  For just a little more you can get an Elite 4200 which, IMO, is a far superior scope.

Now I am looking at the Sightron SII's.  All these choices are killing me. I research all these scopes and then I end up thinking I should just fork out the cash for the Conquest or Burris Black Diamond or Leupold Mark 4.  I want to be confident in purchasing a more affordable scope so I can maybe purchase more than one and still be happy with my choice.  Tryng to decide is like scratching my fingernails down the chalkboard.  Maybe it is just lack of experience with scopes...

I ordered a new DPMS LR-308sass and Kimber .204 ruger and need scopes for those as well. Heck I think buying my house was easier.... LOL!

Who knows!

I appreciate everyones help, it is making this easier. Right now I think its just my lack of commitment in this decision that is keeping me from ordering.

Frank
