I have narrowed it down to

Bushnell Elite 10x42 or 12.5x50

Kahles  10x42

Nikon premier LXL 10x42

Zeiss victory Fl  10x42 or 10x56

I am looking for the best low light, highest magnification binos for hunting. They will be used mostly for tree stand type hunting.

Thanks,

Joe

I own the 10x42 Elite and am very pleased with it. I recommend it highly.

I also have handled and very much like the Nikon LXL.  In fact, I probably would prefer it (by the tiniest of margins) to the Elite but, the deal I got on my Elite was too good to pass up.

The Kahles I know only by reputation, which has always been very good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I definately would  choose the Bushnell and Nikon over the Zeiss, mostly because I don't think the Zeiss offers anything that warrants its over-inflated price tag.

All of the binoculars on your list are fine optical instruments.  You could choose any of them and be very satisfied.

Zeiss does not offer anything special here. I am examining the Conquest line for something I would like, as the others (S and L) do not have this mid price category. Or some Zeiss classics still available. But I have a hard time proving to myself the Conquests are any better than Monarchs.

Is the 10x42 Monarch vs 10x42 Premier worth the price difference?

Only you can decide that.

For my money, the Premier is worth the extra cash.

Personally I think a 50mm or a 56m objective is just too big for hunting. Unless you use them as truck binoculars but for wearing around your neck they are too much weight.  Yes, the bigger objectives will help with low light but the weight trade off is not worth it.

All of the binoculars that you are looking at are very nice. The only pair I have not handeled is the Bushnell Elites but I have heard good things about them.

I did a side by side comparison from the Zeiss Victroy FL and the Nikon Premier LX and glass wise it is just too close to tell. Plus, I liked the feel of the Nikons better and they actually felt better built and the Nikons while still expensive were still about $300 cheaper then the Zeiss.

I think Kahles offers a great deal of value for the money.  They are very close to top end glass, buit very solid (feels like a hunters binocular).  Plus, they are from what I recall they weigh a bit less then some of the other glass out there.

I have no experience with them but I really like the look and from what I have heard you might want to check out the new Minox HG (High Grade) line. Again glass is supposed to be very nice and in a light weight package.

As far as if the Nikon Permier is worth it over the Monarchs, well personally I am not overly impressed with the Monarch binoculars. I love that line of scope but I was pretty disappointed in the Monarch Binoculars my father had. To me they seemed clear but darker then some of the others in their price range. The Nikon Premier LX series was BRIGHT and looked just as good as the Zeiss and the Swarovski's that I was looking at.

Happy Shooting

AC

I suggest you narrow your choice down to either the Nikon LXL 10X42 or the Zeis FL 10X42. They are a toss up on the playing field optically speaking. The only advantage is the Zeiss has a life time transferable warranty. Either way you can't go wrong.

10x42 sounds OK, seems overkill with 10x56. With really low light conditions, some 7x models work best, but you said you needed 10x.
