Hello Gents.  Stumbled in here trying to do research.  Maybe this is the place for 'fellow travelers'.  I bought an old external adjustment scope I believe to be an old Wollensak.  It was pretty much a basketcase.  But, I could see through it though foggy.  Upon disassembly, I found the rear of the two erectors(?) in the rear housing to be splotchy...for lack of a better description.  Thought maybe it was bad coating, which I have not been able to remove.  I replaced the lens with an objective lens out of an 4X.  Just happened to fit perfect.  Voila!  Clear as a bell, though it changed the focus.  Obviously the wrong focal length...whatever.  If I pull the rear section out..about a 1/2", perfect.  But, the Xhair, very fine, disappears.  Any way to fix the lens or find a replacement?  Wanted to mount it on a 'Schuetzen' style I'm building.  Bill S.

Leatherwood  Hi Lux Optics still makes this type of scope therefore contacting them might be a start.

Another manufacturing source for this style scope is Montana Vintage Arms.  Their scopes and sights are used extensively in Black Powder Rifle Cartridge competition and they may be able to steer you to parts sources for your scope.  They have a website.

Two possibilities I hadn't considered.  I found a company in Colorado that refinishes lenses.  I'm waiting for a response. Apparently they actually grind the old coating off and re coat.  The add claims the setup is the most expense so as to maintain the strength....we'll see!
