I have a question I was hoping someone might help me with.

I am trying to get a Schmidt & Bender 4-12 X 50 (Classic) scope mounted on my Browning A-Bolt in 300 Win Mag. My delima is that I'm getting conflicting information on what I need to use when I call around to different gunshops.

The fisrt shop said I would need standard Leupold mounts and bases, but they didn't have the 30mm rings. This led me to call another shop who told me the following:

I need Leupold dovetail bases with NO windage adjustments - these I was told are more stable and suitable for my upcoming Africa trip.

My orignal intention was to mount the scope with Talley's; however, the first shop told me there would be an issue with space because of the long action if I went that route... Does this sound correct?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I'm a little reluctant to take it somewhere that I'm not certain knows what they're talking about.

Thank you in advance for your help...

A. Have a 300 WM with a a S&B and yes the Leupold mounts and bases work fine.

B. On a different rifle... I have broke one of those annoying little windage screws. Rifles that go to Africa tend to get beat so that was not bad advise.

C. Don't have any experience with Talley... but kinda sound bogus.

My vote is for the Leupold mounts and bases.

Anything by Talley is good to go.

They are good people that provide a great product.
