I am looking for info and opinions on scope mounts. I have a Stevens 200 in 22-250 that Im setting up for varmint and paper shooting. It has a 26" BBL, custom stock and my gunsmith has done an accurizing package to it. It has a top feed blind mag so I was thinking a one piece mount would be cumbersome for loading. Also, I dont know if a canted base would be needed considering the relatively short effective range of that caliber. I am not sure about rings either. Short, medium, high ??? What do you guys/gals think ? I cant spend a fortune on this part of the build. I still have to buy a different scope as well. Guess the wife will be hitting me with a frying pan again! Man this stuff is expensive !!

Since the Stevens is basically an old Savage 110, any Picatinny rail fitting the 110 should be fine (and easy to get). For example, EGW offers one with or without any moa built in (IMO, get a zero moa base and you will be fine). The ring height needed depends on your selected scope and it's size (bell and tube size both). If you don't want a pic type base, most major manufacturers offer two piece scope bases to fit that model. Go through the rings and mounts pages here...they are listed by manufacturer. Check Leupold, Burris, Warne for starters.
