I have 3 rifles and 3 scopes.  My newest rifle is a Ruger 77/17 .17hmr.

I also have the following

Remington 788 .22-250 with 3-12 Burris Signature select

Tikka T3 lite 22-250 with 3x9 Zeiss Conquest

I have purchased a Burris FFII 4.5-14 for the .17hmr.

reading some of the posts here, I am getting myself confused as to which scope should be on which gun.  Some say the .17 needs a 6-24 while others have stated that a 3-9 is adequate and still others have stated that he FFII 4.5-14 is overkill for this gun.  Can I get some opinions on what to do?  I have no problem playing musical scopes if needed.  I also have no problems putting the Zeiss on the Ruger.

any comments appreciated.......

It all depends on what you plan to be doing with each gun.

Looking at what you have there, I would probably set these up the same way.

How do you like the Signature Select?  Does the 12x have enough power?  I bought my son a Savage 22-250 and put on the FFII in 3-9X40, but want to upgrade to one with higher power.  He will use it on Coyotes....usually running.... occasionaly standing and hopefully Prairie Dogs.  Do you hunt with yours?

I am a huge fan of the Burris Signature Select scopes.  Just wish I could afford them for all of my guns.  I replaced an old Tasco Euro  Class 3-12 with this Signature Select.  Bought it off of the Sample list.  This is one fine scope.  Crystal clear and has a reasonable objective size that does not seem to overwhelm the gun.  The Tasco had a 52mm objective.  I have also owned a 3-9 FFII for awhile. I had it on the Tikka rifle  It was not as clear as the Signature, nor did I expect it to be. I wanted the Tikka lite to use when calling coyotes since the old 788 is so heavy....(11.5 lbs with scope) .  It is a nice light  set up that is super accurate. Ran across the Zeiss and decided to buy some German   engineering and replaced the Burris FFII.  I really like it but would not hesitate to put up a Burris SS against it.  Actually both are really nice scopes.  As for value,  I think the Burris Fullfield II scopes are hard to beat.  They have very acceptable clarity and are not overly long like some of the other brands for a given magnification range......like the Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14 for instance.

thanks

The Signature Selects offer alot for the money and are made very well,

they are one of my favorites for the price. The Ballistic Mil-dot is a very

nice reticle for flat shooting cartriges. Well worth the upgrade IMO.
