Hello, I'm looking for my first spotting scope, and I thought I would come here for some help.

I'll be using my spotting scope for spotting .223 and 7.62x39 holes out to 300 yards. I'll also want to be able to use this scope to hunt deer.

I am looking for a 20-60x80 angled scope at a maximum price of around $200. So far I've found two scopes:

Tasco world class:

Konus 7120:

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can offer assistance on choosing a scope. Any information to compare the above two scopes would be great. If there is a better scope out there for the price, I wouldn't mind hearing that either! Thank you.

Honestly, I am not aware of any full size spotting scope in this price range that is actually worth buying.

Definitely none that will show you a 223 bullet hole at 300 yards unless you get very lucky.

For hunting, I would recommend a small spotter of some sort with the cheapest good option I know of being the little Minox:

For range use, I would wait until I could afford something decent.

Thank you for your help. Can anyone offer assistance in comparing the Tasco and Konus spotting scopes? I do not see much difference, but I know there are subtleties when it comes to optics.

I took a look at 20-60x60's the other day and I do like them, but I could see how the 20-60x80's would make a difference. In light of that, are there any economical 20-60x80's that you can recommend for range use?

Which spotting scope would you recommend for seeing .223 bullets holes at 300 yds ?
