Hi everyone,

Thinking about getting a 3-18x42, and was wondering if anyone has any "real" info on the rings I will need to mount the scope on a DPMS LRT-SASS.

Valdadas website recommends high rings, but I really want the minimum (and to get a scope cover on the objective).

By my calculations, I will need at least .83 inch of height, measuring from the middle of the objective to the top of the rail.  IORs site states that their rings are .25, .50, and .75 (L, M, H), measured from the "base" to the bottom of the ring.  I'm wondering if that is from the very bottom, or where the mount meets the top of the rail.

My guess is that the medium rings will work for my application, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

In my opinion you'd be better off with the high.  While I can't remember the exact outside diameter of the 3-18X42's objective bell, while it's possible it will physically fit with mediums it may not be very comfortable to shoot.  Especially on a rifle that comes with the PRS stock and its adjustable cheekpiece most shooters will be most comfortable shooting with the scope a bit higher.

Jon,

You were right.  I went with the low rings, but put a badger 22 moa riser to make up the height.  Seems to work well.

Thanks!

Andy
