Hey guys,
Which scope is best for "strength" putting up with (spring) airgun recoil etc ??
I just got into the airgun thing and I understand the powerful spring air rifles
can kill one of my Leupolds rather quickly... Makes no sense to me but I do feel
the difference compared to high power rifle recoil. Hawke has been suggested
as a great scope for the $$ ...
Money really isn't the issue although I cannot fathom spending over 2-250 on
a scope for a pellet gun.
Thanx much for any advice!

I highly recommend them. I use one on my R9 and a lot of other people use them on magnum air rifles. You should also try asking this on the gatewaytoairguns forum. They would be able to give you a lot more information and experience on them.

"I just got into the airgun thing and I understand the powerful spring air rifles can kill one of my Leupolds rather quickly... Makes no sense to me" The reason why an spring-piston air rifle can kill a scope is because the forward motion of the piston and it's sudden stop generates forward recoil. A regular or "non-airgun" scope is designed to withstand rearward recoil, and not forward recoil. Therefore, the forward recoil of a spring gun will tear up a great many regular scopes. Leupolds in general however are well-known to hold up to spring guns. Most Hawkes do as well, and that brand is used by a great many spring-gun shooters. I have three of them mounted on spring-piston rifles from Air Arms and Weihrauch, and they have held up just fine. |

Just make sure the scope is "airgun rated" and stay away from BSA scopes. I had one on a high recoiling air rifle before and it broke before too long.

All Leupold scopes are spring gun rated. I use a couple of them on heavy recoil air guns. |
