What a great day I had today! I got my first BB gun at 5 (Thank you G-Dad) shot guns all the time growing up. After the Army (Iraq) I had little desire to shoot anymore, and didnt for a long time.

About 6-7 years ago a neighbor asked me if we could go out to my familys farm and shoot some clays, and then go drink some cold beers. I said what the hell lets go, but the cold beer part after sounded the best to me. Well lets just say after shooting clays I started saving my money and bought me a nice O/U, and joined a local gun club. I was shooting 2-3 times a week for fun, and competition. I had forgot how much I liked shooting.

My 1st .22 I got when I was 9 and I took it out one day and had a blast, only prob was it was too small. Then I bought me a nice target 10/22 with a good scope, and then I was hooked!

So now I decided I want more. Saved money for 8 months bought a nice .308. Saved money for 13 months bought a nice 6.5x20x50 to slap on top. I started shooting it this spring at a target, zero, box test, etc... Now the 10/22 I have has been shot alot (shells are cheap) but the .308 has been shot more serious/sparingly (shells are $$). Well I had a nice side job for cash, bought some shells my gun likes (100 rds), and decided its time to go play with the .308 like its a .22. Put out some clays at 300yds, and put a old computer out at 600yds. Shot the you know what out of all of them!

Well lets just say " I HAD A BLAST!!!!!!!" I cant beleive I didnt want to shoot for all those years, but at the same time I had some things in my head I needed to work out.

The last 6-7 years Ive been shooting again have been very fun, and the most fun Is all the neighborhood, and buddies kids I have taken out to the farm shooting. There is something special seeing the look in a childs eyes when they pull the trigger for the first time!!!!!!!!!

But today I got to feel like a kid again.

Great story. Glad you are having fun.
I quit shooting much in the mid 80's. Except for a little deer & quail hunting. Then about 4 years ago I pulled the old firearms out & began to shoot once more. I have added some U.S.P.S.A. & IDPA matches & have taken up a interest in 600 yd rifle matches. One of the most enjoyable things I do now is .22 rimfire at long range. Once again, I'm hooked on guns.................AND I like it!

Sounds like a great time to be sure. BTW, love that central KY area. Have friends in Columbia (to the south and a bit west of you). Good luck. Big Grin
