Hello everyone,

Has anyone any experience with the new Burris XTR scopes?  I am specifically interested in their 3-12X50 Illuminated BMD.  I want to put it on a .25-' 06 for the ultimate all around coyote sniper and deer slayer rig.  I figure the .25 is good out to 450 yards for the little vermin 'yotes in my area, and the advantage of the Illuminated BMD will make twilight hunting probable, and not so 'iffy'.  I thought seriously about those Black Diamonds, but without the illumination, I don't think that I am necessarily doing myself any favors.   Or should I opt for the IOR Valdada line.  I have seen their stuff and it is pretty impressive, although a bit heavy and pricey...

              Any thoughts?

XTR is basically the same glass as various DIamonds in Burris line up.  The knobs are a bit different, I think, but that's about it.

IOR is better, if you can affors it, but I would not feel shortchanged with the Burris in the slightest.

Thanks Ilya,

After a little more careful thought, and much more consideration, I think I am going to stick with Burris.

I hesitate in buying a new system, like the IOR.  Not because I would not spend the money to own the best, but I like to own one system for all my rifles, once I find a great optic brand, and keep the changeup to a minimum.  I hope that this makes sense.  If I remember correctly the IOR has an MP-8 reticle that is essentially a Mil Dot that has horizontal lines instead of dots.  I think that they were illuminated as well, or could be, but "Oh, the Price would set me out of saving for a hunting trip out west, if I were to get those for all of my rifles!!!"

I know I seem to have just contradicted my own question, or poll, but I just checked out their pricing strategy, and I forgot how up into the stratosphere they were with their quality and pricing.  I am not saying that they are not good, I imagine that they are, but to afford something like that now, is sort of ridiculous for me at this time.

It sort of makes the idea of quick change scope rings a necessity, and just keep switching from one gun to the other, as more of a necessity.  If I remember correctly, they were pretty pricey.

             Thanks,

                  Scott
