I've got both a mini 14 and a mini 30 and neither are very accurate. I'm looking at sending them my mini 30 to do some work on and was wondering if anyone else here had dealt with them. http://www.accuracysystemsinc.com/index.php I have already purchased and installed the extra power hammer spring and now even junk ammo shoots with no hiccups. I do also realize that 7.62 x 39 is not the best of platforms to try to make a really accurate rifle, but think that for the cost, the mini 30 could perform a lot better than it does. My mini's are both older models and not the redesigned ones. Edited by neilbilly - April/04/2010 at 12:10 |

the recent models address allot of the accuracy issues of the older versions .. I understand that Accuracy Systerms does a decent job, but probably cheaper to sell what you have and get the newer models

Thanks Martin, that's a solid plan b I saw where one of our listers had one "mini 30" for sale a while back and watched the price drop and drop because everyone wants the new and improved model. "granted mine were both <500 new so I wouldn't have to take too much of a loss, but I hate selling guns" I'm a little intrigued by this option. http://www.ruger-mini-14-firearms.com/index.php I may go ahead and do one and see if it is actually worth the $$$$ I'll keep everyone posted. If it can really double the accuracy, it's well worth the money. |

I agree with ya Wes all the way...Ive been a gun owner since I was 11 and today I try and make my rifles all they can be .. Most of my rifles have more into them than they are worth to another person but so what. They are doing the job I want them to and Im glad I can finally afford to do this for myself. I will be buying my 28 year old son a new AR-15 Service Match Rifle from White Oak Armament..It should be a good shooter for sure...
I like Mini 14's too! Ive owned one in Walnut and Stainless, the only reason I sold it was because the magazine did not pop in quick enough for me. Mini's have a GREAT ACTION and are tougher than any Semi Auto I know of,,, its a Great design and a guys gets alot of rifle for the money.. The Mini 14 is accurate enough to do what its intended for..Prisons use them all over the Country as well as hunters....

The AR platform seems to dominate any match competitions but the style of the mini 14 s takes us back to the look and feel of the M14 /M1a and M1 carbine & Garand, family of rifles which have been tremendously popular because they just feel right.

As the "listener" who was selling a mini 30 not too far back, I can tell you they are not exactly easy to get rid off these days unless you are willing to sell them dirt cheap. They are a really fun little firearm but accuracy could be a lot better.

LOL Tend to agree man, but I like that they aren't too fussy about feeding and such like my buddies AR's. He spends a lot of time cleaning and fiddling with his when we go shooting. When his AR works, it's a lot more accurate, but it's not reliable enough for me to ever want one. If I can get my mini's to group tighter, they'll be keepers. If not I'll buy a Dragunov. |

I have the nra model mini 14 and i love it. It's not a tack driver but I hit what I'm aiming at. I had a ruger SR-556 which I sold because I would always grab the mini first. The mini just felt more natural to me. Sure the SR-556 was a better gun but I just like the mini better. I sold the SR-556 and bought a FNAR to bust some hogs with.

I know this comment is a bit late, but I do a good bit of business with Carl (the owner of Accuracy systems) he does really nice work and charges a fair price. It is however a good idea to check and find out how busy he is because he can get pretty busy.
