I have a Luepold VXII 3X9-40 (excellent scope) BUT it is very hard to adjust from 3 power to 9 power . It is like it is "Gummed" up. In the cold, during deer season, it's almost impossible to move. Any suggestion's??, Deer season is approaching and not enough time to send it in to the company.

Sometimes warming them up with a blow dryer will help to loosen them up.

I used a few squirts of WD-40 around the ring on an older scope of mine in the same condition. It freed it right up and spins fine now.

I found this same problem on a buddies Leupold after he tuned the scope into the dovetail front mount with the scope instead of using a dowel. When I loosened up a windage screw on the mounts it turned freely. I will always turn a Redfield type ring in and out several times with a dowel to mate the rings with the base. You can bend the tube on a scope by using the windage adjustments if the front ring is not properly mated.

Thank you for the pointers. I'll give them all a try.
