About 12 years ago I stopped shooting to pursue an M/X racing hobby.
Now I don't bounce like I used to and have started back into the shooting sports.
When I quit shooting I had a collection of different scopes both variable and fixed.
To make this story short.
I had a couple of tasco scopes that were Japanese made. They did the job at the time and I figured they would work in this day and age. I was wrong.
The point is, I have taken an interest in the SS line of optics with their fixed power and rear focus.
After doing some research I find that these SS scopes are made by Tasco.
The last two Tasco scopes I bought I gave to new shooters just getting started. They were that bad.
So am I missing something here. I see praise everywhere about the SS line and Iam considering the fixed 6x42. However the association with Tasco has me concerned. I live a long way from Texas.Big Grin

There is NO comparison between the old Tasco's and the new SS models. No need for concern.

They are not made by Tasco.  At one point tasco did own the SS line.  THey were the 2nd or 3rd owners of the line.

The new models are made by SWFA and they are excellent scopes.  the new variable and 10x HD are complete redesigns and just blow the older models out of the water.  Great scopes.

I also did the MX seen from 82' to 97',  many advancements have been made in optics in the 12 years since you left the hunting seen.  You'll find many of the optics in the $200-$500 range out perform anything that was made available 12 years ago.

Thanks for the replyCool
I ask these question because where I live, there is one gun shop, within a 150 mile radius and a smithy is even further.
So I have no hands on-have a look through- available.
Iam greatful for the input.
ThanksBig Grin
