I just  interviewed at  a gunsight company for an engineering position.
Some serious gun nuts work there [my kind of place].
ANYWAY, the funny thing was what they said about all the money they are getting from the war in Iraq: They said that the soldiers don't want to have thier two AA batteries go dead in the middle of a fight, so they are changed before they go dead [read very often]. This means that someone could track the troops by the litter of AA batteries dumped on the ground:)

I hope our troops will dispose the AA's properly [:D] I suggest they start using TRIJICON TRIPOWER so our troops will not fill up the land fill. [:o)]

Uh oh. I hope nobody mentions how many tires they're going through on the airplanes.

Can you say, "Ye Olde Springfield Tire Fire?"

We had that problem quite consistently, but it was never bad enough to make a unit mission ineffective. Typically you would replace your AA once a week no matter what....this was my squads S.O.P due to lessons learned. The only AA powered devices i used was the PEC2 and thermal of which I was never quite sure of its nomenclature. The best bet optics wise in my unprofesional opinion is def the Acog.....No batteries to worry about, marine proof, collects plenty of light even in low light conditions.....oh yea and they work great with PVS14 monocular.

Trijicon reflex is another good option, just has some problems with high contrast situations.

But it too is always on and wide FOV.
