Pyro69999 and I were discussing the need for a Gun Forum, thinking it would bring a more diversified discussion to the site and more participants that would not only benefit forum members, but benefit SWFA buy selling more scopes by increasing the volume of participants. I pmed Chris and pyro6999 who posted the previous poll. Chris pmed me back with a positive response and asked for my recommendations and also suggested placing a thread to the participants of the site. Thus the poll. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks.

How about
Rifles: (with sub catogories) Centerfire Rimfire Airgun Other
Loacated above Everything Else, bellow Optics Review and Tests(these can actually be intergrated amogst the above optics catogories and I actually do not see a need for this section.) |

hot 30 is back, starting with SVD666 an the intergrated concept. the idea of a gun forum might lead to mass confusion, IMO ! the "format" for the complete forum is basically running currently, just take your "scope sub-catagories" as listed and rehead them to read "rifle scopes" "tactical scopes and RIFLES" "varmint scopes and RIFLES" "target scopes and RIFLES" ETC. and so on?
Ive enjoyed this site because it is basically specialized by catagory, so why not keep the weapon specific to its scope type and so on? Just a twist on 666 30 |

I would like to see whatever format, listed higher up on the list, near Rifle Scopes, to attract more traffic. See what you guys think.

I think hot30 has the right idea. Even with the forum in it's present format, topic questions go in alot of different directions any way. |

Dolphin, disect my last post. they would sit where they are now, right under rifle scopes ?
SVD, I would go for anything-goes also, "but" just keep the reloading out of it. there are too many forums out there for reloading-only, let them have it!

I like hot30's suggestion. Just changing the headings makes it much easier, and if you were going to have a single firearms forum, why not just call it "firearms?" If you use a very narrow category name like "centerfire rifles," what about all the folks who might want to discuss rimfires or handguns? Both of those go hand in hand with optics as well. hot30's idea means no further forums have to be added, it just says to people "gun topics are welcome in these forums too."

Multiple sub forums because it will catagorize them and cover a broad range and it will be organized.

I like the idea of having a centerfire forum, handgun forum, muzzleloader forum & perhaps a shotgun slug forum.

The purpose of seperating the forurm from the optics forum, is so that people can talk strictly about guns and gun related stuff, without having to integrate optics into the discussion, unless that is their perrogative. Having seperate sub-forums, would allow those people to participate in those specific areas, without cluttering one forum with a vast array of topics, much like the sub-forums for optics. No different. Optics can still be discussed, but the primary purpose of the forum, is to discuss the firearms and all aspects related, but without the focus being on optics only. Just my thoughts.

Hey Dolphin, thanx for the knodd.. If "you" wanted to talk target rifle and related topics(& scopes) or varmint rifles and related topics(&scopes) or hunting rifles (&scopes) would you go to the "anything goes" catagory and try to get your point across (like the current "rifle scope" catagory) that ends up being the most used of all the other sub-catagories?? Related stuff must include the scopes used in a particular shooting discipline. The scopes could be included much easier if they were included in the specific rifle catagory, yes? If the existing catagories were adheard to HA HA , the chances of a "specific" question being answered could be greater, yes??
Just another idea, Hot |

I like the idea you guys have about a separate forum. Maybe with a sub forum listing similar to what is under Scopes already.

Thanks for the posts guys, all are good ideas. I believe there is a general consensus that a new forum with sub-forums be created and the location on the list of forums does not appear to be that relevant. A few more posts and I will pm Chris and see what he has to say and if, how and when we can put these forums into action.

That is a great idea. I always shop for used guns, primarily rifles.
