I have a Bisley SB in 44 I have changed scopes once already and switched to a Good reputable company the groups at 50 and 75 are all over the place again what should I expect from this gun and scope combo. The mounts seem solid and at times i will have 2-3 rounds grouping tight then the next several are everywhere and dont return again any suggestions?Loco

SO??? Why is this the scopes fault?  I know that sounds blunt, but it is a question you have to ask? My buddy found a lot of loads that would not hold groups with his Redhawk at those distances.  What is the deviation of the throats?  How do the throats compare to the bullet size? Some of the "thumper" bullets are under stablized for longer ranges. Ruger has put out some stuff with some strange chambers and throats in the past few years, just ask the .327 people.

Next how round are the rings?  What do they measure? You may have bought a good scope, but if the rings are not right and installed correctly you may have trashed a good scope.  This is much more common than the ring makers will admit.  Do you have any gap on the rings? Why if thy measure correctly and are round?

The mount and rings are solid I am sure of that and I went with the factory rec on both I also thought about the the load possibly not being a good match but then there is the ? why will it put 2 or 3 in a nice group and then be 5 or 6 inches in different areas the next time. The first scope you could actually see 1 reticle was loose that was an obvious fix but the reticles dont seem to be loose at all on this scope. I thought maybe I was flinching but I stagger loaded the cylinder and blind spun it too and its not that I just hate to send the scope back and find out I wasted a lot of time and effort. But I will check the mounting again that is a good suggestion for sure. Thnx

Will the Bisley shoot well with Iron sights? This will give a starting point to search for the problem. Make sure that the serial # of the cylinder matches the frame. It could have been swapped at some time by accident. You may try to number the cylinders and check to if all the chambers shoot the same. It could show a timing problem if the same chambers shoot consistently good or bad.

Are you resting the gun on the barrel? If you are, stop.
Rest the gun on the frame and and your groups should improve.
I had the same problem with my Ruger RH several years back. I started resting the gun on the frame and my 100 yard groups were below 4" afterward. I was using sand bags, BTW.
