So had a long conversation with the father-in-law about hunting this year, and he explained to me that he has a few bucks running around on his property. This is unusual as he hasn't had any on his land for a few years now. He currently owns about 10 acres which his house is on, and his neighbors have 40 that he hunts, and might be selling to him. They used to have cattle on theirs, but over the past few years have decided to sale them due to the owner is now in his 80s and can't manage them anymore. I am believing that that move has let the bucks come back into his property. Anyways he was out planting some pecan trees today, and saw one of them chasing a doe. This went on for 3 hours, about 300 yards behind his house, and he just watched with his binos until it got too dark for him to see. He told me that this is the monster he saw opening day of muzzleloader, and thinks it to be a 5-6 year old mature 12 point with probably 20+ inches of spread. I am excited for I will be there in a month to hunt with him, and hopefully I'll get the chance to hunt this bad boy. He didn't get a great look at his rack because he wasn't in a opening for him to see but thats what he thinks. If I drop him, you'll get the first pictures of him!

That is good news, Mike.  Sure makes the trip to the in-laws more exciting.

This is very true. The truth is my in-laws love me, and I have no problems with any of them. It must be one of those one in a million situations. The only problem is that they are OU fans, and I'm a Longhorns fan, so football season is fun, not malicious, but pretty fun.

As long as you bring an OU gift, you'd be welcomed with open arms haha. I am excited to get down there and find this buck myself if has hasn't harvested it himself. The thing with it is that it might be a smaller bodied buck, but I need to have my eyes on it first, and this is true, 12 pointers are pretty rare in that area. Not impossible, just hard to find. We planned on getting a chunk of land together and turning it into our lease/food plot for us to hunt and future generations, so hopefully over the course of the next few years we can make that hapen. He lives near Lake Texoma and has a cabin up in the Kiamichi wilderness/Arbuckle mountains so hopefully in between there is where we can find our land, and maybe that once in a lifetime buck...

As much as I would like to see ya get him but wouldn't it better to let him go, then go after one of lesser bucks. U said it first time deer have been seen on the property in years. It would be better game management wouldn't ????
I wasn't upset about the black cat crossing my path this morning but mouthing "your fu@#ed" as he passed was just rude.
