Just purchased a German Zeiss 3x9x36 Diavari-C with T* coating for $625.00 that is new in the original box.

I've been looking for a variable compact scope for an older Sako Vixen in .223 Remington and I think that this is the best compact scope I could find for the price.  There may be other scopes that are cheaper, but not the quality of this German made Zeiss.

I have an older German Zeiss Diatal 6x32  that is the same vintage as the Diavari, and I was impressed with the optics.  The Diavari has the same superb optics.  Both of these scopes are about 20 years old.

The Leupold compact 3x9x33  is 11.0 inches long and the Zeiss Diavari-C is 11.5 inches long, however, I don't believe that the Leupold will have the quality optics of this German Zeiss, although the Leupold may be cheaper.

About 15 years ago I compared the Zeiss Diatal 6x32 to a Leupold 6x42 in the field under low light conditions and the Zeiss was brighter even with an objective lens that was 10mm smaller than the Leupold.

If anyone is interested, the store where the Diavari was purchased has one more of these scopes for the same price of $625.00.

Good call, Tip. I'm sure the poster meant no harm, but yes, please check out the rules of engagement, my friend.

I'm sorry.  I guess I haven't read the rules in a long time.
