What would be the recommended method of removing grease off the front lens?  I think the threads on the bell were overgreased or something and now it has transferred onto the front lens?  What to use to get it off?

thanks

It is a  Mueller scope.  How much wiping would it take to remove the coating on the lens?  Or is this even possible?  I'm not sure how durable the coatings on the lens' are.

I don't think the factory grease from the scope would hurt your coatings at all. Is it that white grease?? Or is it like Vasoline? Either should be OK.

Maybe try warm water at first to get the majority of it off. Then go to the Zeiss Wipes or 100% acetone.

I assume it's fully waterproof.

Maybe give Mueller a call and ask them.

I contacted Mueller about this and they said to use rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip and then clean up with a lens pen.  They said those coatings are tough and not to worry about that.   thanks for the assistance
