took the plunge and got a Z6i 2-12x50 for my browning x-bolt .30-06...
got it mounted at basspro shop... it's beautiful, I want to post you guys a pic of it soon, however I do have one question... on 2x I can see the tip of the barrel on the very bottom... if i move it to 3x and above, i can't see it... is this normal? does this mean the scope needs to be mounted forward more? thanks, Jack

That is normal on a lot of lower power scopes (usually below 3x). I tested the Z6 1.7-10, and had that same thing happen. Once I got to 3x I couldn't see it any more. I wouldn't worry about it.

As Helo said, depending on mounting height, you can see the barrel on all scopes with low magnification settings below 2.5 - 3X.

Jack they are correct it is common especially with scopes in that low of a power on the bottom end. I am not saying all of the Bass pro Shops are the same as ours but most of those places hire and fire rather frequently and don't pay the best. Just an FYI I have seen some nasty mounting come out of those places. Seeing as the amount of money you have in that scope one can only assume the gun is also a very nice piece. I would not NO MATTER WHAT trust a mount job done at Cabelas/Bass pro/Dicks Sporting goods/ Or any other one of those joints. I have personally had to fix some mounting issues where after about 50 rounds the scope actually moved in the rings, not a little over an inch, from a gun that was mounted at bass pro due to improper ring torque. I would double check it all. Shoot if you want a lesson on how to do just PM me and I will be more than happy to explain it ALL from begining to end. Just something of that quality I would not trust someone else to mount it. |

CF-II is correct about the scope mounting done in some of those places, as well as the overall lack of product knowledge of guns and optics. I was perusing the "fine gun room" at our local Bass Pro and saw a Sauer 202 rifle with a Zeiss Diavari mounted on top, where the mount bases were installed backwards. On this rifle, the receiver steps down, so the rear mount is taller than the front. They had the taller mount on the front of the receiver, causing the scope to angle upwards, putting the scope in a bind in the process. I brought this to the attention of the people working there, but they either didn't understand what I was talking about or didn't care... or both.

it took me about 8 months to save up for this scope, but it sure was worth the wait! I love looking at the rifle, because after 8 months of seeing it naked, it sure does look sexy with that swarovski scope on it ;-) does this look mounted correctly???
day mode is brighter night mode I got this baby for a GREAT price (below $2000!) from an authorized dealer! please tell me if she looks mounted correctly, I feel confident in the guy who did it, thanks so much! Jack |

I know this forum is sponsored by swfa.com, but I just had to tell you something, I bought the scope from a competitor for $1899.... I just checked their website (I only bought the scope a few days ago) and it says it is discontinued... I honestly believe, that they must have accidentally misquoted the price on their website and I guess they just went ahead and honored it when they shipped it to me... I was thinking the whole time they would call me and tell me they accidentally put the wrong price online, but when I got the scope in the mail I was like wow, how can these guys really sell these scopes for so much cheaper (and not make swarovski mad at the same time!?) but now it's totally not available on their site...so WOW SCORE for me huh??? isn't that awesome? :-) I'm sooo happy right now!!!
