I have a .308 rifle that I would like to outfit with a good starter tactical scope.  I don't need anything extravagant at the moment.  I'm not looking to break the bank.  Any suggestions?

 SS 10x or ss 16x or ss 20x depending on what you want it for take your pick. You will not find a better scope anywhere for $300. If you want variable SS 3-9 for $600.
 Personaly I use the 20x for all my target shooting, they are on 223,25-06, 308, 7mm rem mag, I only have access to 200yrd. range at the moment but for my 58 year old eyes they are perfect for picking out the holes in the paper.

Cant find a better deal than the SS line.

Big Joe I have a Remington 700 vtr in 308 cal and I put the SS 10X42M on it. I must say it's a very robust made scope, I have had mine for a little over a month and so far I haven't seen any draw backs.
