Have you checked out the BSA Sweet 17's? They're actually a pretty good scope. Definitely not the quality BSA has grown a reputation for.
The BSA Sweet 17 line of scopes are made specifically for 17 caliber rifles. The BSA scopes utilize a bullet drop cam (located on the elevation adjustment) instead of a hold over reticle like the Burris Ballistic Plex. It takes a little more time to compensate this way but it is just as effective. There is a noticeable optical / mechanical difference between the two as well, hence the considerable price difference. The BSA Sweet 17 scopes are a lot of fun for plinking and informal target shooting. The Burris has the edge for more serious target or low light hunting. Both are great scopes for 17caliber rifles but they are made to serve two different markets. BSA Sweet 17 2-7x32.....$59.95 BSA Sweet 17 3-12x40 A/O.......$89.95 BSA Sweet 17 6-18x40 A/O.....$109.95 comes w/ FREE 15 piece professional boresighter (limited time only)

I have Mueller on my .17 hmr and it works great. The optics are pretty good for what you pay and it focuses down to under 15 yards for close shots. Great scope for the money.

I tried the BSA Sweet 17 and didn't like it.
Chris put me on the Bushnell Banner 17 Super 3.5-10 X 36mm. Installed it on my Ruger Model 99 .17HMR.... Took it out yesterday and shot one inch groups at 100 yards. The Model 99 is a carbine and this is probably the best I and it can do. Very light rifle. The scope is real clear and the AO let's you fine tune. The scale is off. Focued at 100 yards, scale reads 50-75 yards. The top turrent is a little on the delicate side, but this is only a hundred dollar scope. By the way I like it, but thought you might want my report. GOOD LITTLE SCOPE FOR GOOD LITTLE RIFLE! Edited by catusbill |

I put on a tasco scope 3 - 9 power on my savage 17hmr and it does the job well. I use mine for varmit hunting and I have found it to be accurate at about 60 to 75 yrds. and only paid about $60 to $70 for my scope.
