I have been an Iron Sight Shooter for most of my life and now that I'm on the back side of 40 I'm in need of a good Scope that won't put me in the Poor House.
Anyone have any advice on a good scope for long range ?. I'd really appreciate it. |

How much are you looking to spend? What gun is this going on? What is long range to you?

Sorry about my spelling on the Topic, didn't have my glasses on.
I'm looking at getting the most bang for the buck and I like to start shooting out as far as I can just to test myself, however I don't have a lot of money, I'm retired Military and you know how bad they pay us. My rifle is a savage 10 .300 Win Mag with a Douglas Target Barrel and not a bad set up, I've been looking at the SS and the Vortex but not sure about them. |

I'm sorry I forgot to mention I'm a lefty and even though I prefer to shoot a right handed rifle,
Left Handed, I'd like a Scope that's kind of Lefty friendly as far as focus is concerned. |

The SS line that does not have the side focus seems to get some lefty love as the adjustment on the eyepiece is easier to turn.

http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-Scopes-C1719.aspx I suggest you consider the Super Sniper line of scopes. I have had all of them except the 16x and they are all nice scopes but the two new ones the 3-9 and the HD are better glass and 1/10 mil clicks and are extremely nice scopes. No regrets on the Super Sniper scopes. The 20x ones are best used in bright daylight and will look a little grey in low light but still quite useable.

Well I just heard from my Tax guy today and found out I mailed too big of a check for my Taxes this year and will be getting some Money back, So I think since I'm going to mount a scope on a .300 Win Mag , I'm going to give the 16x SS a go.
Thanks everyone for the advice and Happy Shooting. |
