Ive recently heard a lot about people useing nightvision scopes to hog hunt, and im looking into buying a cheaper one to test out. Whats a good 1st generation night vision scope, and how well did it work?

In night vision, "good" and "cheap" don't go together.

I had the Pulsar digiscope, liked it allot.  It ran about $1300.  If you get much below that, it'd probably be smarter to just a hog light in the area to hunt and forget the night vision part.

I agree with Rancid Coolaid.  I had an ATN and a Yukon for that purpose.  Land owner put up lights and didn't need them anymore.  If that is not going to happen in your area, then either of those scopes will be fine, I have owned both.  You will get good shooting out to about 75 yards or so.  If you go the GEN 1 route, be sure to invest in a good IR Illuminator.  This will allow you to maximize the advantage of the technology.  Just my two cents.

I bought a monocular and co-witnessed it with an Eotech. You can get a much better quality monocular for the same price of a dedicated "scope"

Take a look!
