I can't get thrilled with the .204... Yes, they seem to shoot, but .223 is about as small as I want to go.  While we all get the gun bug thing from time to time, you have to ask the basic question "If I have not killed anything with the .243, what changes by getting a differant gun?" I'd put the 400 on a Zeiss scope for some extra daylight.

heck  anywhere here  i check 223s are more expensive.   they all have to be special ordered  no one carrys them. cept for academy an its a  single shot an  i dont want single shot.  im partial to Savage     i mean  Remy is good gun an all but tryin to decide if i should try one.
an i just bought a new scope for my 243 thing is   ammo for it has gone up since i bought it.   kinda pisses me off i bought it in october an  ammo  here has gone up bout 2$ a box

In the past, I would have thought Silver was nuts..... but now I'm starting to lean towards his way of thinking........ buying a top grade scope is a pretty good idea.

How come you haven't shot anything with it yet?  October was a long time ago!  Also, where do live that they don't carry .223's?

BTW..... I was lucky enough to find a Savage Mod 11 in .204 for $229.00.... I bought it!

lol the savage mod 11  204 i looked at was 100 more than  the remington i just bought. and i havnt had  alot of time  to  hunt or varmint hunt.  i did couple of side jobs and what not.   i did buy the remington i couldnt pass the deal up .  now i have  a 204 now it may be a while before i get a scope for it. i live in abilene  tx and  stuf like the 223  at walmart or academy  or something is considered special order.   and we dont have  but like one gun store here besides that an they are mainly bows.    i wish  i could open  up one  like any of the good scopes liek the bushnell elite or something or zeiss. or meoptia    i whould have to order from here because places here  dont handle them or if they do. chances are they are  more in the stroe than they are on the site here. id order my  guns of the net   but i dont have an FFL and the guys here  that do charge people  or not all of them will always do it.

dont quote me on this but the barrel contours are different so they wouldnt fit unless you got a heavy barrel for your .204 so you may be able to order something like it from somebody like mcmillan but im thinking remington wont have anything like that for you.

ive got a bushnell trophy on my 22-250 just mounted it havent got to even sight it in, looks like an ok scope for $100

see what i mean, the varmint sps has a heavy barrel and i assume your .204 has a plain light weight barrel, so im sure that they wont work, like i said some after market companies probably make something like that in fact i will grab my books and take a look right now.

Sometime last year or maybe even 2006, Walmart got rid of all there guns.  Sold the fixtures and everything...... Kind of surprised to find out they still sell them in Texas.  How about other states......... does your Walmart still have them?

i  lived in tenn throughout the last part of 04 and first part of  05. and  guns up there were cheeper at walmart. my dad wanted the ruger 10/22  cause it was like   20$ cheeper. there so  my step mom an i went to go get it for him for christmas. an walmart  there in tenn whouldnt sale firearms to  like peopel from  5 states. and texas was on the list on the top of the list. walmart is werid  they have pissed me off  they dont allow layaways here no more. none of the stores here do no more thats why its hard to get  guns here is another reason.
