I have to ask this just out of curiosity. I have a SUB MOA Weatherby Vanguard that supposedly comes pillar bedded from the factory. I don't know how good the factory work is, and wondered if it would benefit from being bedded by a gun smith. It shoots well, as they claimed it would, but good is never good enough of course. What do you guys think?

I have never seen a rifle that had demonstrable detrimental effects from a proper bedding job, even with pillars.   Sometimes it is hard to say without a doubt that the bedding helped but most times you can say that it did make a positive difference.

Even if it is has pillars around the action screws there is still the recoil lug and chamber areas that need complete and unmoving contact.

Why don't you do it yourself?  It's a little skeery the first couple of times but you get over it.

I see. I guess maybe I'll just leave it alone. I was hoping I could get a little more out of it, but I wouldn't want to go the wrong way. I'll just start handloading, and try to tighten up the groups a bit.

Trigger before you start messing with the bedding, pull the barreled action out and see how good it looks to begin with. I pretty sure they are bedded from the factory. Check this article out as well from John Barsness.

Will do, thanks for the link Roy. I know it's bedded, but I don't think they take the time at the factory to do it like I would have done. I've had it apart, but don't see the tight fit I'd like to. It shoots under an inch pretty easy, but want to see the one ragged hole.
