I am trying to get rid of the glare on my predator scope and rifle. Anyone use material like this before? www.camo4u.com - says it has a matte finish

I used it on my ATV, never tried on a gun though. I would steer away from using anything on a blued surface, moisture can and will get under it and then can't be oiled for protection. Plus you'd need to remove the oil for it to stick. Not a good idea.

Thought the material might be too inflexible but the ad does say for shotguns and leaves no residue so it appears it can be removed.  Have you contacted them to enquire?

dont use camo tape, my father in law made that mistake on his 22-250 and now it need to be cleaned because the adhesive in the tape made a huge mess of the barrel and he had to buy a new scope.

You might be able to take some oooo steel wool and lightly card the shine off. Just don't get to crazy with it.

Come on Ed - TOO obvious!

Where's your sense of adventure?  Was wondering if he tried the tape since this was originally posted in July.

we put some "tape" like stuff on our coyote guns and didn't have a problem when removing it!  I think we got it at that catalog company out of nebraska - not sure what the name of the stuff is called, but it was like the white athletic tape.
