Remember "my scope bashed me "problems last year that I recounted to you in an earlier post?

My solution this year was a Bushnell Holosight.... because after being clobbered at leat twice hard enough to probably need stitches and once enough to remove the scabs from the other 2 and start it bleeding again, my deer production dropped from 5 to one ..

My son says I inadvertantly flinch, and close my eyes now expecting injury each time I shoot.

I had to get away from a scope to change my reflexes and you can't have iron or TruGlow sights with a cantilevered barrel/scope mount without getting a new rifled barrel without cantilver..

Well now an article that helps explain my woes!!! Remember I shoot a Rem 1187 fully rifled deer special (1998 model) with cantilevered scope mount....

In the November '04 issue of North American Whitetails, on p. 76 as part of a monthly section called On Target, while reviewing red dot scopes and other new products, the author states:

" Another notable product is the "Cantilevered Scope," offered this year in several magnifications by the Bushnell Banner line. This scope has a slightly extended eye relief to allow for the more forward mounting positions required by the increasingly popular cantilever/barrel mount systems for slug barrels. When you mount a regular eye relief riflescope on a cantilever base, you have to crane your neck forward to get a full field of view. This nearly guarantees a whack on the eybrows from the scope. The Bushnell Cantilever (scope) solves this problem."

Enough people must have gotten bashed that they produced a new line of scopes just to solve that problem!!!!

I feel vindicated and a lot less incompetent .... This could be a good shotgun season!!

Hope springs eternal..even in the deer woods!!!
