I am interested in purchasing a Tasco SS.  Have heard good things about them.  As far as durability and the mildots how do they rate for thier price range?  Trying to get a decent midot scope and rings for under $400.  I'm a little older so my eye sight is not what it was when I was 20, at 48 it ain't so great - so what power would be recommended shoot varmints and target out to the 400 yard range.
Thanks!

I HAVE A SS-16 X 42 , MIL-DOT RETICLE, 30MM TUBE, WITH SUNSHADE PURCHASED FROM SWFA FOR 299.95 PLUS COST OF SUNSHADE AND SHIPPING.  IT HAS BEEN MOUNTED ON ONE AR-15 ON A ONE PIECE SCOPE BASE/RING COMBO.  THIS MOUNT PUT VERY LIGHT RING MARKS ON IT, BUT ARE BARELY NOTICEABLE.  THE RIFLE WAS NEVER FIRED SO THIS SCOPE NEVER WAS USED EXCEPT LOOKING THROUGH IT.  IT IS VERY CLEAR AND SHOULD BE MORE THAN SUFFICIENT FOR YOUR NEEDS.  I HAVE SOLD THE AR AND NOT THE SCOPE AND NOW HAVE NO USE FOR IT.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, I CAN LET IT GO FOR A VERY REASONABLE PRICE.  JUST SEND AND E-MAIL.  THANK YOU.

To answer your question..... The SS line of scopes is extremely durable, built to mil spec and the mil dot reticle is etched onto the glass.  For your eyes and what you are doing you want the 10x for sure.  Everything is better with the ten, IE: field of view, eye relief, light transmission, etc.
