l am thinking about getting a 10x Bushnell Mildot scope

l've been told that the dots are not much use for hold over  !!!!!!

l dont need a mildot to extimate the range's l shoot..........but there is not much in the 3200 price range that has a ballistic plex type reticle

l have a M8 10x and love it.....so am after another fixed 10x

So can u use the dots for hold over effectively ??

or suggestions of another fixed scope if possible would also like AO

The Burris Fullfield II has a ballistic plex reticle and is priced along the lines of the 3200.

There are not many fixed power scopes these days....especially with a bullet drop reticle.  The Super Sniper is a fixed 10x with a mil dot, but as you have discovered mil dots are for range finding.  They can be used for bullet drop but it is pretty involved and usually does not work out to yardages you would normally be shooting.  Here is some info on using mil dots for hold over.

It will be hard to beat the Burris 3-9x40 Fullfield II, Ballistic Plex with a free 20x50 spotting scope for $197.95.

For the money, the Burris FF2 can't be beat.  For a bit more money there are IOR Valdada tactical scopes in 6x, 8x and 10x variety,  Most are available either with V-Mark or with MP-8 reticle.  V-Mark has several inverted chevrons for holdover.  It is basically a Dragunov reticle.  I have a couple of russian scopes with a similar reticles and they work quite well.

Other options are Shepherd scopes and RapidReticle scopes, but these are calibrated for a particular cartridge.

Any ballistic reticle, including Mil-Dots, and even simple plex reticles can be used for LR zeros. I've used them in the field for coyotes, and found them to be no problem, but the guys above are right, it takes some calculating to establish zeros --OR--- u can use this guys ballistics program to zero any reticle imaginable (including Horus Vision)-- Exbal-- www.perry-systems.com
