Can you guys tell me if the 6.5 x 20 nikon monarch illuminated nikoplex is a good scope for my 22-250.  I just got the scope from SWFA couldn't pass up the great price.  I really don't know much about them, but I've been wanting a larger scope for that rifle for a while now.  Any advise would be of great help.

Thanks Lonzo

Hello.

I have the Monarch 6.5-20 w/ a lit Mil Dot.

Great scope for the money and a heck of a steal right now!

You did good!

The only "fault" I can relay at this time, is that it doesn't have much "ups" as far as elevation is concerned.

A common problem with 1" tubes. It supposed to have only 38 MOA of up, according to the Nikon web page.

This situation is easliy rectified with a canted rail install. Mine happens to have a 20 MOA Badger.

I'm not crazy about 1/8" MOA clicks, but this scope is more of a varmint/target style scope and not a tactical version.

Adjustments so far have been right on and repeatable.

I would also say that Nikon did a pretty good job with the illumination of the reticle also.

The 5 green, 5 red settings are user friendly and aren't too bright to render the reticle useless in low lighting scenarios.

I put the target knobs on mine.

Are there any specific questions you have that I haven't covered?

Here's mine mounted on a Remington .308 with medium rings.

(I just got some low rings in and have changed them out to improve my cheek weld.)

Those Monarchs sure are crisp to look through. I'm really happy so far.

Your Remy's look so cool the way they are set up, CT. I think I'm going to make some changes on mine starting with the mounts. Nice towel, too.

Thank you, tahqua.

I need to send you a pic of this rifle with the low rings on. Much better cheekweld.

The Warden said to tell you "thanks" for the compliment on her bath towel....

(She doesn't know that the towel doubles for my AR's gun case too......)

Thank you Cheaptrick for the information about the scope.  I think I'm gonna have to get some low rings also.  The Kimber takes there own mounting blocks and they are high to start with.  Can't wait to get this thing up and going.

Thanks again for the help,

Lonzo

I got the monarch mounted up on Kimber 22-250 and ready to go yesterday.   Can't wait to get to the range and try it out.  I got the regular cross hair setup, didn't see the mildot on sale when I got it here at SWAF.  I also got the 4 inch sunshade for it,and it really looks streched out on the Kimber.  I really like the extra knobs that came with it.

Thanks for all the help you guys gave me.
