I have strictly bowhunted for the past 7 years.About 2 years ago i bought a t/c black diamond xr.My wife bought me a nikon omega bdc 3*9*40 for christmas(although i havent opened it yet) :).I am also a newbie to scopes and such. This is going to be the first scope that ive owned btw.I just want to get some pro opinions on what would be the best rings and bases to use for my setup and also any other info that would be helpful.Such as best bullets for my setup, heard that a 150 charge as well as a 250 grain bullet has to be used for the omega?Have several friends and relatives that argue about best rings and bases,so i figured id just go to some optics junkies. Thanks in advance for the help.

Also here is the gun http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/mzModernInline.php and here is the scope http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/product.php?group=16&sub group=10&product=8403 .Also and not that it matters but my gun is hardwoods and scope is also.Saw some stainless weaver rings that seemed that they would match well , http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard -item.jsp?id=0012864710535a&navCount=2&podId=0012864 &parentId=cat601620&masterpathid=&navAction=push &cmCat=MainCatcat602006-cat601620_TGP&catalogCode=IG &rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601620&has JS=true ,would these be good?also what about see through?and some good bases if the above rings would work?Or better suggestion?also small, medium, high? Thanks

I know what you mean. Your wife has given you a great scope for the tc. It has 5 inches of eye relief, no black eyes when shooting that one. I do not know what the best rings and bases are for your gun. You might want to try the TC site. Or look at the SWFA rings and bases link. Good luck and enjoy shooting your gun

There is a reply on a link here to another question. It is located under the sighting a omega scope. You should be able to find it under the search option at the top of screen. Good luck |

Thanks for the reply will,as i stated,im new to the optics game and thought that this site would be a good place to get quality info, just kind of frustrating when i put my post up and wait a week with no response ,then another topic is posted and gets 8 hits in 1 day.Just wanted to make sure i get the best bases and rings for my setup, just hated to ask the guys at bass pro or sportsmans warehouse cause u never know what u will get.I saw a post about rings and bases for an omega muzzelloader and omega scope, just didnt know if my black diamond xr and omega scope would be anything different.Had someone tell me to go with medium rings and someone else told me low?The explanation for the low rings i was given makes sense as i was told the closer to the barrel the less impact on the scope. Also weaver rings seems to be the manufacturer everyone is recommending, just didnt know if the were any opinions on whether the quick release or set screw type was more reliable.Anyway good luck to you as well in all ur endeavors.
