See Ed. Some people like to challenge their marksmanship skills to make themselves better shooters. Mrs BF and I both have 2-7x scopes on our golf ball rifles. Really helps when the golf ball starts at 15 yds and ends up past 100 or more yards. Do you want me to send you a bottle of BBQ sauce for your crow dinner?

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

When you are dead, you don't know you are dead.It is difficult only for others.
It is the same when you are stupid. |

I've shot 22 mag at 500 yds. I've had a couple of scopes with a top end of 16x on a 22 and to me the usefulness of that is that you can see the holes in the 100 yd target. 4x and lower makes for a good hunting optic but what is right depends on what you are trying to do with it. Not all 22 rifles need to have a scope one should be able to use open sights with proficiency. 600 yd high power is not shot with an optic.
