Looking at meopta meopro 4x12x50 and steiner gs3 2x10x42. Can get both for about the same price. I know meopta is great as I own them but wondering about the  steiner. I have never looked thru one. Scope is for hunting deer in the southeast. Any other suggestions welcomed. budget around $800.

Check out opticsthoughts.com Ilya may have tested some of the Steiners.
When you are dead, you don't know you are dead.It is difficult only for others.

It is the same when you are stupid.

I have a Steiner Predator Extreme 4-16 and it is a very good scope. It is basically the G3 rebadged. I would not hesitate to get the Steiner.
I have Meopta Meopro binoculars and have very little time behind Meopro rifle scopes. I can't be much help there.
Hopefully you can get behind both, side by side, as only you can be the judge on the glass and reticles. Optics and reticles aside, a Steiner scope can double as a carry handle. They are quite "beefy".

Below is a discussion we had a while back on the G3 Steiners.

I have a Leupold 2-10x42 VX5 and it's clarity is amazing. Also the light gathering ability is very impressive. Top shelf optic.
It is not as they say.
