Hello, this is a kind of a long story but I need some help with a Nikko Stirling scope. I won a Howa 1500 gamepro 2.0 with the Nikko Stirling gamepro scope in 4-12x40 with the half mildot reticle and the target turret. I have googled it, I have tried to find it on youtube. Everywhere I have looked nothing comes up for it. From what I have gathered that it is a package scope that you can only get with that gun. But what I am trying to figure out is how to use the half mildot reticle with the target turret, I understand how mildot works but it does not look like it matches up to the target turret. I have emailed legacysports twice the only thing they tell me is how clean it, how to bore sight it but not how the system works together. So please if anyone here knows anything about how it works please explain thanks
Z

Is there a manual you can get? First thing you need to work out it what the marks on the turret are and what the clicks mean.

I'm afraid I've not used that scope myself so can't help with more than generalities.

Welcome on board and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will give you some pointers soon.

Best wishes,

Scrummy

I believe what you have is the old mil dot reticle with 1/2 mil increments between the mil dots and 1/4 MOA adjustments.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

To be honest you may be 100% correct in what your saying. I can get photos of the turret and the reticle if that helps.

Great question. I had the exact same question because i have the exact same gun/scope combo so signed up to share. From what im seeing, as there is a clear lack of manufacturing info, its a mil dot scope but as to the exact degree i cant say tet. There is a simple mathematical calculation to figure it out. I will be using a 12” target on full magnification (as there is a clear variable in proportion due to only picture sight size change when adjusting) at a precise distance to calculate the amount at said magnification. Its the only way to be certain. One mil per line or dot should be .36 inches at 10 yards or 3.6 inches per line or dot at 100 yards. I hope this helps you or anyone else with a lack of manufacturer’s info or simply the same issue we both shared on this topic.

If this is correct, make a target and verify. Put a circle or square in the center then put elevation and windage marks one inch apart. In a perfect world, you should be able to dial your turrets and verify your bullet impacts. Example: at 100 yards if you dial down 20 clicks with an MOA turret, your bullet should hit 5” low. If it’s a 1/10 mil turret, it should hit about 7 1/4” low. Maybe make a second target with mil graduations to verify the reticle in your scope.

update to original answer. Field tested the scope and at 100 yards each mil line will line up with lines marked every 1.8 inches at full (12x) magnification. Hence, the scopes mil lines are 1/2 milrad per line. I found a tape measure, a marker and a piece of paper and this method would be great for anyone wondering about their scopes ratio of mil dot/lines. I hope this answer helps. Happy target shooting!
