I use an old folding Gerber for gutting, but as a general all-around robust camp knife these look interesting. Some look like skinners as well.

Well, don't get a 12 inch Bowie....just get a four inch hunting knife. I had one of these skinners many years ago...I paid $65 for it years ago.....now it's like $400.... |

Here are some older knives I have kept over the years. Top knife is Sheffield steel made in the US but I don’t have any other info. Good all-round camp knife.
The second is a original Russell RD 1958 model belt knife I picked up in 1964 at a Woolco store for $5.00 because they were clearing old stock. This knife had great reviews but I never cared for it. The bottom knife is my folding Gerber I got in 1970 for deer hunt and still use today. As you can see from the blade depth it has had a lot of use over the years! |
