    Posted: August/19/2020 at 08:28
So just got a Remington 700 308 barreled action that was given to me because some jackleg gunsmith cut the barrel less than 16" and buggered up the barrel trying to pin and weld on a brake.  The guy didn't want to be in possession of it and gave to me.    I've pulled the barrel and contemplating what barrel I want to go back with.  I have other 308's so want something else besides that.  want to stay with 308 boltface size.  This will be a range only gun.

6.5x47 Lapua I've always wanted but never had built or bought one...... I would be limited to reloading for it due to limited/no factory ammo.

6.5 Cred is hot now and seems here to stay.  Good ballistics and factory ammo offerings.....

260 Remington has great barrel life, good ballistics and factory offerings.

Any I'm forgetting to include? Thoughts? Opinions?   Spare tubes laying around?

I have Remington actions in both 6.5 Creedmoor (chassis gun) and .260 (ultralight hunter). I like both and like that the .260 is based on the .308 case. The 6.5 is a juggernaut, though.
I would just as soon both be .260, as I have a lot of brass.

Sounds like your guy was starting out to make a specialty pistol/ Wonder how the action was originally documented, Pistol or Rifle? Not that it matters if you are going to make it into a rifle. Pistol action can be made into a rifle. Rifle action can"t be made into a pistol.

Try a 6mm creed.  THey are pretty fun

it was a rifle.  when he chopped off to much (made it less than 16") it became a NFA and he wasn't having it.

22 Creedmore, cool caliber.  I've seen it do terrible, terrible things to animals.

7mm08 would have been my first thought but I guess it will be 6.5C
