Well, Holsun look awfully similar, perform well and cost a lot less... So myu assumption always was they were copies.

I do not have inside knowledge, but having looked at the available information,  it is not clear at all.

Both companies are litiguous, so I am not fan of either.

There are three major claims in the lawsuit and at least two are kinda preposterous and the other one  would also seems to imply that every red  dot company out there owes something to Trijicon despite some having started making similar sights before Trijicon

Unless they get a very favorable judge, I am not convinced it will go anywhere.

Trijicon, Holosun Settlement

Wixom, MI –– The recent filing with the U.S. International Trade Commission by Trijicon, Inc., against Holosun Technologies, Inc., on reflex optic designs has been settled. Trijicon successfully defended its intellectual property around reflex sight features and technology.

“We invest heavily in research, development, and testing at Trijicon to ensure our optics are ready to perform for the most demanding users, and we are committed to defending that investment in innovation,” said Stephen Bindon, Trijicon President & CEO.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

I agree.  I think this is a case of "my attorneys are bigger than yours and my pockets are deeper than yours"
